anstaar on plurk or discord
•THREAD-JACKING: down with it!
•FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: good with future events, would rather skip the rest
•BACKTAGGING: Always
•AVOIDED TOPICS: N/A
•PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: She/her
IC CHARACTERISTICS:
•CURRENT CANON POINT: at the end of The Winder Long
•PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Under the illusion, Simon has fox-red hair, golden eyes and pointed ears, which are all muffled/made human. He tends to dress like he gave up keeping up with mortal fashions somewhere in the 1920s. Someone who focused on little details might notice that they're slightly frayed around the cuffs as he keeps hold of what he has (mending it as he goes) rather than letting go. He's lived in San Fransisco for a long time and his accent has shifted to match the time and place, though in extreme stress there can be a hint of older, British accent. To normal senses, he doesn't smell of anything distinct. Magical senses might pick up the smell of smoke and rotten oranges, or perhaps a trace of mulled apple cider.
•DEMEANOR: Simon will do his best to generally present himself as friendly and open on the Barge. He likes to talk, and has turned that into a long career (of sorts) of being a diplomat, and talks even more extensively and enthusiastically if he's talking about something he cares about. He's good at listening to people, and does his best to respond thoughtfully. He can tend to a sort of old fashioned way of speaking.
•ABILITIES:
• Even when they aren’t trying, Fae tend to overwhelm humans and make them want to obey them. There’s a punishing beauty to them that doesn’t do anyone any good but can do them a world of harm (so he's stuck in human illusion)
• He can mimic someone else's magic if he has their blood (he can't access magic that would actively harm others)
• He can experience what has happened to someone by tasting their blood, which gives him access to memories and – if they’re alive – a way to communicate with them/overwhelm their mind (he can't control someone's mind & can only take their blood with consent)
• Very powerful illusions that go beyond just being able to hide himself or appear different than he is all the way to having a physical ‘reality’ if you’re in them i.e. a dungeon covered with an illusion of comfort will feel comfortable to someone as long as they’re in it (can't create anything dangerous and weak enough that people can break out of them if they focus) & is good at detecting illusions and seeing through them
• He can create wards, but it takes a lot of work
• He really likes/is talented at turning people into things like fish or trees (he cannot transform people without their consent)
• Can’t use aggressive/destructive spells (like setting something on fire) in general
• He can sense someone else's magic (to varying extents)
•MEDICAL INFORMATION: He's extremely allergic to iron and it has increasingly negative effects until it's removed from his system. There are various herbs he's less allergic to but still aren't pleasant. Not fond of silver. Otherwise, generally heals faster than a human/can withstand more.
•CABIN INFORMATION: Cabin door looks like something you'd find in a decent apartment building. Inside is just a room with a bed to the side along with a closet for clothes and a table. It lacks any signs that someone actually lives there.
•OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: saying his daughter is dead, otherwise he's good at hiding any discomfort
IC PERMISSIONS:
•MENTAL: he has a certain amount of resistance to mental/attack manipulation and won't be happy to have someone in his head, but go ahead!
•MIMICRY: totally
•VIOLENCE: they can start a physical fight but Simon prefers to remove himself at speed from someone trying to hit him
•MAGIC: sure, lets see how it might interact with his!
•DEBATE: yeah, and he's generally willing to debate things as long as he can avoid being called out on personal things
•OTHER / NOTES: N/A
